Job summary

Cigna Healthcare in Glasgow is seeking a Risk & Underwriting Associate Analyst to join the SME Underwriting team. You’ll support new business quotes and renewals, assess financial risk, and negotiate terms with Sales and Client Management.

You’ll work across Finance, Actuarial, Systems and Legal Services to understand the international business unit and deliver timely decisions, with monthly reports and mentorship for junior staff.

Qualifications

• A high level of numeracy and the ability to identify and analyse existing or potential problems.
• Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
• Effective organisational and time management skills.
• Good knowledge of relevant processes, procedures and systems, alongside good business and product knowledge.
• Strong attention to detail and clear communication skills.
• The ability to take responsibility for achieving goals, adapt when problems arise and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform and review case-specific risk assessments within GEH, identifying financial risks to support underwriting decisions.
• Negotiate terms with Sales and Client Management to support new business and renewal activity.
• Monitor account earnings plans to support growth and profitability.
• Analyse portfolio performance and provide detailed feedback to support effective portfolio management.
• Support Experience Underwriters with large group cases and manage complex schemes, including partnerships, top-ups and combined propositions.
• Mentor junior team members and support their development.
• Provide monthly reports to key stakeholders and work across relevant departments to support effective delivery.
