Job summary

AECOM, a global infrastructure firm, seeks an Associate Director – Proposal Manager to lead strategic pursuits across the UK and Ireland. You will coordinate senior leaders with capture, proposal, and technical specialists to craft differentiated, client-focused bids that support growth and protection of large contracts.

You’ll shape win strategies, drive governance of multi-disciplinary teams, and ensure compliant, high-quality submissions from qualification to interview.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in a senior proposals or pursuits role, with the confidence to advise, influence and challenge senior stakeholders.
• Proven track record of leading high-value, complex pursuits – typically with a total contract value above £20M – across the construction, engineering, or infrastructure sectors.
• Demonstrable success across the pursuit lifecycle, from qualification and capture through proposal, interview, debrief, and lessons learned.
• Proven ability to create differentiated win strategies and convert them into compliant pursuit responses.
• Excellent facilitation, presentation and communication skills in both virtual and in-person settings.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.
• The judgement, resilience and organisational skills to lead multiple contributors under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead large, complex pursuits involving multiple disciplines, regions and external partners from early capture through proposal, interview and debrief.
• Develop and execute differentiated win strategies translating client insight into compelling, client-focused proposals.
• Direct positioning and capture activity, facilitate win-strategy workshops, and advise on pursuit priorities and decisions.
• Mobilise multidisciplinary teams, establish governance, and maintain momentum and quality throughout each pursuit.
• Lead proposal planning and delivery, including kick-off, content development, reviews, document production and interview prep.
• Ensure submissions are compliant, persuasive and aligned with AECOM processes and branding.
• Analyse debriefs and client feedback to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
• Coach capture and proposal teams in strategy, planning, writing and bid management.
• APMP Practitioner or Professional certification, or equivalent qualification.
