Job summary

University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is seeking a Strategic Procurement Manager (Band 7) to lead the Black Country Pathology Procurement Team and related commercial projects. The role oversees compliance with UK procurement law and Trust standing financial instructions, with flexible working including some home-based days.

The post offers 27 days annual leave rising with service, a Royal Wolverhampton site, and a salary of £49,387–£56,515 per year.

Qualifications

Full Member status of the CIPS (10).
Experience in managing and developing staff to meet service needs.
Ability to manage own and team workload with delegation.
Up to date knowledge of PCR2015 and PA2023 procurement directives and legislation.
Experience in managing staffing issues and conflict resolution.
Strong prioritisation and time management skills.
Project management and leadership skills under pressure.
Ability to handle conflicts with senior Trust staff and negotiate compromises.

Responsibilities

Manage Black Country Pathology Procurement activity and related projects within the NMBC and external customers.
Lead the Black Country Pathology Procurement Team activity for NMBC.
Contribute to development and improvement of the procurement function within the Trust and wider health economy.
Provide timely, accurate advice on commercial issues to Trust committees and meetings, ensuring compliance with regulations.
