Job summary

West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Band 8c Head of Commercial Contract Lead for the Pathology Business Unit. The post is based at Watford Hospital with travel to Trust and partner sites, for a 24-month fixed-term or secondment, working 37.5 hours per week.

The role leads complex outsourced pathology contracts and provides strategic commercial leadership across Hertfordshire and West Essex. The post holder will chair negotiations, monitor performance, and deliver financial

• Experience with high-value contracts and complex negotiation.
• Strong financial management experience.
• Ability to work across organisational boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Chair performance meetings and report to Boards and executives.
• Lead management of pathology contracts (Pathology Services, Laboratory, and Trust Services Agreements).
• Negotiate amendments and monitor provider activity, finance, quality and KPIs.
• Provide senior commercial and financial advice and develop budgets, forecasts and business cases.
• Present highly complex information to Boards, executives and system partners.
• Drive service improvement, change and governance in pathology contracts.
