Job summary

UHNM’s Black Country Pathology Service is seeking a dedicated Procurement Lead to manage pathology procurement activity across the NMBC and related ICBs, ensuring compliance with EU legislation, UK law, and Trust financial instructions. The role offers flexible working with partial home working and a strong focus on team leadership.

Based at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton, you will lead the procurement team, drive commercial projects, and advise committees on timely, accurate contracting

Qualifications

• Full member status of the CIPS required.
• Experience in managing and developing staff to meet service needs.
• Ability to manage own and team workload including delegation of tasks.
• Up-to-date knowledge of PCR2015 and PA2023 procurement directives and legislation, contract law and purchasing legislation.
• Experience of managing staffing issues, including conflict among staff groups, sickness or disciplinary issues.
• Prioritization skills: methodical, numerate, problem solving, negotiation, diplomacy.

Responsibilities

• Manage Black Country Pathology Procurement activity and related projects for NMBC and trusts, ensuring compliance with EU legislation and UK law.
• Lead the Black Country Pathology Procurement Team activity within the NMBC.
• Contribute to the development of the Black Country Pathology Procurement Team.
• Provide accurate, timely advice on commercial issues to relevant Trust Committees and meetings, especially where business-critical for trusts in the wider health economy.
