Job summary

Birmingham City Council is seeking a Policy, Governance and Assurance Lead to shape the governance and assurance framework for its Commercial and Procurement Services. The role leads a specialist team to ensure compliant, transparent procurement delivering value for money.

Permanent Grade 6 role, 36.5 hours per week, based in Birmingham with flexible hybrid working. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK; sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Significant experience designing and leading procurement governance frameworks.
• Knowledge of procurement legislation and public sector regulatory requirements.
• Experience influencing senior stakeholders and leading organisational change.
• Level 6 CIPS Diploma or commitment to achieve it.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and improvement of the governance framework for procurement.
• Ensure compliance with Procurement Act 2023 and local requirements.
• Design and oversee Commercial Governance and Assurance Framework.
• Support the Commercial and Procurement Assurance Committee.
• Lead transparency and reporting obligations.
