Job summary

Natural Resources Wales seeks a Portfolio Performance & Insight Lead Specialist Advisor to turn complex information into strategic insight. You will join the Portfolio Office to combine performance, planning and risk data, delivering dashboards and intelligence products for senior leaders.

The role supports Welsh environmental and community outcomes with a hybrid working pattern and NRW office allocation. You will develop evidence-based recommendations, monitor progress against the Corporate

Qualifications

• Significant experience in corporate performance management, portfolio management or organisational performance oversight within a large and complex organisation.
• Exceptional analytical skills to interpret qualitative and quantitative information for strategic decision-making.
• Ability to assess organisational performance and identify trends, risks, dependencies, opportunities and outcomes.
• Experience of developing performance dashboards, reporting products and trend analysis using data analysis, business intelligence and visualisation tools (Power BI, Excel, Minitab) to communicate delivery, outcomes and benefits effectively.
• Excellent communication, presentation and report-writing skills for senior leaders and governance groups.
• Strong stakeholder management, facilitation and influencing skills across organisational boundaries.
• Welsh language level requirements: Essential: Level A2.

Responsibilities

• Analyse organisational intelligence from plans and risk reports to provide a forward-looking view of performance, outcomes and benefits.
• Develop and maintain performance dashboards, visualisations and reporting products for progression, trends and risks at portfolio level.
• Enable live monitoring of delivery using trend measures and long-term indicators to assess progress and intervention needs.
• Provide independent assessment of delivery and performance against objectives for senior leaders.
• Coordinate portfolio reporting inputs across planning, performance, finance, risk and assurance.
• Identify and analyse cross-cutting risks, dependencies and opportunities affecting delivery.
• Provide coaching and technical advice on portfolio reporting, performance analysis and dashboard development.
• Translate complex data into actionable insight for governance committees.
• Highlight interdependencies and impacts across NRW to inform decision-making.
• Undertake health and safety duties and commitments to NRW policies.
• Demonstrate commitment to NRW Equal Opportunities and Diversity policy and personal development plan (Sgwrs).
• Take part in incident response activities.
