Job summary

Natural Resources Wales (NRW) invites applications for the role of Chief Executive and Accounting Officer. Working with the Board, Chair and Executive Team, the postholder will set strategic direction, lead transformation, and ensure delivery of NRW's Corporate Plan while safeguarding public resources and environmental outcomes.

Hybrid working is available, with base near your NRW office. The role requires inclusive leadership, strong governance, and effective engagement with Ministers,

Qualifications

• Experience leading at Chief Executive or senior executive level.
• Ability to manage complex multi-stakeholder organisations.
• Proven record of corporate leadership and governance.
• Ability to drive transformation and continuous improvement.
• Commitment to Nolan Principles and public service values.
• Experience engaging Ministers and Welsh Government.
• Evidence of Accounting Officer responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership of NRW to deliver statutory purpose and the Corporate Plan.
• Advise Board and Chair with strategic insight and governance oversight.
• Lead organisational transformation and change programmes.
• Ensure governance, risk management and financial stewardship across NRW.
• Represent NRW to Ministers, Welsh Government, partners and the public.
• Promote inclusion, wellbeing and a culture of continuous improvement.
