Strategic PMO Lead — Build, Govern, and Deliver Change

Job summary

TKAT is seeking a Project & Change Leader to design and mobilise a new PMO across its Trust of 45+ academies. You will translate strategic priorities into a coherent portfolio, establish governance and reporting standards, and grow the PMO as the strategy matures.

You will report to the Director of Strategy & Performance, line-manage a 0.6 FTE Business Change Leader, and work with Headteachers and central teams to land change smoothly while safeguarding and promoting welfare of children.

Qualifications

• Recognised project/programme management qualification (PRINCE2 Practitioner, APM PMQ, MSP, or similar)
• Substantial experience leading complex projects or programmes to completion, including budget and risk management
• Experience line-managing staff
• Experience working with senior stakeholders to shape project direction
• Track record of establishing or improving project management processes, tools or governance
• Excellent knowledge of project management methodologies and risk-management skills

Responsibilities

• Translate strategic priorities into a coherent portfolio of trust-wide projects and change initiatives.
• Establish PMO approach with governance structures, reporting templates and escalation routes.
• Advise executive team and Board on programme delivery risk.
• Set up and coordinate a project Roadmap for strategic and BAU projects.
• Oversee a portfolio of cross-trust projects, ensuring delivery on time, budget and quality.
• Develop and standardise project management tools and templates (PIDs, RAID logs, benefits tracking).
• Produce board-level reporting on programme status, risk and benefits realisation, and supporting papers for executives and committees.
