Job summary

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service is seeking a Planning, Performance and Risk Officer to lead the business planning framework, risk management and performance measurement across the Service. The role focuses on developing the Community Risk Management Plan and implementing a new Risk Management System to record ownership, mitigation and escalation.

You will advise senior management, design governance structures, and drive continuous improvement with internal teams and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, maintain and improve the business planning framework to develop, measure and report improvement objectives against legislative requirements
• Draft the final Community Risk Management Plan with the Statistics and Risk Team and monitor progress against Service priorities
• Design and improve performance management systems to measure performance against improvement objectives and KPIs
• Design and improve the risk management framework for a standard approach to identifying, measuring and managing risk
• Manage actions arising from audit and monitor progress
• Advise senior management on the annual business plan and risk registers and ensure progress is recorded
• Design, maintain and develop the business management information system and train users
• Support business transformation and continuous improvement with senior management and external partners
• Coach and develop teams in business planning and continuous improvement tools and act as contact for events and forums
• Research and implement good practice in planning, performance, risk and audit
• Develop and maintain Planning, Performance and Risk pages and support resilience of the Service Performance and Communications Team
• Attend training and comply with health and equality principles
