Job summary

BDO UK is seeking an HR Adviser to provide proactive, commercially focused HR support across Central Operations. You’ll partner with managers and employees to deliver practical people solutions and advise on absence, performance, conduct, and employee relations.

With CIPD Level 5 (or working towards) and strong stakeholder skills, you’ll help implement governance, data reporting, and process improvements while building trusted relationships across the firm.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in an HR Adviser or equivalent generalist HR role
• Experience within a professional services environment useful but not essential
• Proven experience of building effective relationships with internal client base with strong stakeholder management skills
• Experience supporting employee relations matters including absence, probation and performance cases
• Knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice
• Experience supporting cyclical HR processes
• Strong analytical and reporting capability
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
• CIPD Level 5 qualification or working towards
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
• Sound judgement and discretion when dealing with confidential employee matters
• A proactive and solutions‑focused approach
• Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
• Ability to manage multiple activities and deadlines simultaneously
• A collaborative and team‑oriented approach to working

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive and commercially focused HR support across Central Operations
• Partner with managers and employees to deliver practical people solutions
• Coach managers on people matters and build stakeholder relationships
• Deliver operational HR processes, including performance management and talent reviews
• Analyse absence, attrition, and performance data to inform action
• Support governance frameworks and standardised processes across Central Operations
• Contribute to projects that improve process efficiency and employee experience
• Work with the wider People & Culture team to centralise activities
