Job summary

Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity invites applications for a Grant Funding Programme Manager to shape and deliver our healthcare funding portfolio at Great Ormond Street Hospital. You will collaborate with senior clinical colleagues to turn ambitious ideas into funded programmes that improve care for seriously ill children and families.

The role emphasizes designing new funding schemes, managing proposals end-to-end, and presenting outcomes to governance forums.

Qualifications

• Strong healthcare and/or research grants management experience.
• Interest in healthcare funding across areas such as clinical transformation and staff support.
• Experience planning and delivering complex projects or programmes within grants management, healthcare, research, funding or a related environment.
• Strong relationship-building and influencing skills with senior clinical, healthcare and organisational stakeholders.
• Ability to critically assess complex proposals, ask thoughtful questions and make clear, evidence-based recommendations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including making complex information accessible.
• Experience supporting senior decision-making committees and producing high-quality papers and recommendations.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic areas of our healthcare funding portfolio, developing a strong understanding of the hospital landscape to inform future charitable funding decisions.
• Work closely with senior clinical and hospital colleagues to review significant funding proposals and turn ideas into well-designed programmes with clear outcomes.
• Design new funding schemes and governance structures to enable successful delivery.
• Assess funding proposals and provide constructive challenge around need, strategic fit, deliverability, sustainability and impact.
• Prepare recommendations and present portfolio updates to senior decision-making forums, including Trustee-level Grants & Impact Committee.
• Manage funding programmes throughout their lifecycle from application to monitoring, evaluation and learning.
• Build trusted relationships across the hospital and Charity while keeping funding decisions robust and evidence-led.
• Stay curious about NHS developments to identify opportunities where charitable funding could unlock innovation.
