Job summary

S Jones Containers Ltd in Aldridge is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead and continually improve the finance function, delivering accurate, timely financial information to support decision-making. This broad role combines financial control, reporting, budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning.

You’ll report to the Managing Director, oversee the Accounts team, and work to strengthen finance–operational collaboration while driving cost-efficiencies and system improvements

Qualifications

• Strong financial management and reporting capabilities.
• Ability to produce accurate, reliable management information.
• Experience of budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and financial control.
• Understanding statutory financial reporting and compliance.
• Analytical mindset with clear business-focused communication.
• Continuous improvement mindset and ability to optimise systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the finance function, ensuring timely, accurate reporting.
• Oversee management accounts, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow.
• Maintain statutory accounts and reporting requirements, including VAT and tax.
• Strengthen finance–operational links to drive business improvements.
• Provide actionable management information to managers across the business.
• Develop and mentor junior members of the Accounts team.
• Ensure robust financial controls across ledgers and asset registers.
