Job summary

Sheffield Forgemasters Engineering Ltd is seeking a Head of Finance Business Partnering on a 12-month fixed-term contract at our Sheffield site. You will lead the Finance Business Partnering team to drive operational excellence, commercial effectiveness and long-term value creation.

This role covers day-to-day financial operations, long-term planning, recapitalisation delivery, and close collaboration with operational and commercial teams.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with significant post-qualification experience.
• Strong background in manufacturing finance, including standard costing and cost accounting.
• Experience of long-term contract accounting, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
• Advanced financial analysis, reporting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong Excel modelling capability, with the ability to interpret and present complex data.
• Experience of ERP systems and maintaining robust financial controls.
• Proven leadership and people management skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Able to manage competing priorities and deliver to tight deadlines.
• Experience with Power BI or other business intelligence tools is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop and manage the Finance Business Partnering Team, ensuring effective performance management, coaching, compliance, and delivery of departmental & organisation objectives.
• Manage contract costing, defence repricing, and revenue recognition activities.
• Oversee financial reporting, reconciliations, and audit compliance.
• Deliver financial analysis and commentary to support business performance.
• Support cost management, budgeting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor and appraise capital investment (CapEx) projects.
