Job summary

Sheffield Forgemasters invites applications for a Finance Assistant on a 12-month fixed term basis. The role is based at our Sheffield site and supports day-to-day finance activities including AP/AR processing, payments, reconciliations, and supplier/customer liaison.

You will work with the Finance team to maintain strong controls, assist with month-end, and help with payroll tasks when required, while contributing to ongoing systems improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Experience in credit control activities.
• Experience processing high volumes of invoices in a busy finance environment.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Knowledge of GRNI processes.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Payroll administration experience would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Processing high volumes of purchase ledger and sales ledger invoices accurately and efficiently.
• Matching receipts to invoices and preparing payments.
• Processing non-receipted invoices and resolving associated queries.
• Reconciling supplier and customer accounts.
• Managing supplier statements and investigating discrepancies.
• Liaising with suppliers, customers and internal stakeholders to resolve invoice and payment queries.
• Supporting credit control activities, including chasing overdue customer payments.
• Assisting with month-end processes and payment runs.
• Supporting the Transactional Finance Supervisor with ad hoc finance activities.
• Providing administrative support to the Payroll Manager when required.
• Contributing to process improvements as part of ongoing systems implementation projects.
