Job summary

Atomic Weapons Establishment in Reading seeks a Finance Business Partner Specialist to deliver high‑quality financial insight and support decision‑making. You will collaborate with the Business Partner Manager and Service Delivery Unit to shape financial performance across the organisation.

The role requires exemplary Excel skills, stakeholder engagement, budgeting and forecasting capabilities, and a proactive approach to identifying cost-saving opportunities.

Qualifications

• Good standard of general education, including business/finance qualification or equivalent or proven level of experience.
• Stakeholder management skills with ability to collaborate at all levels.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the wider Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Carry out variance analysis and cost monitoring against financial measures and expense categories; provide input to narrative for impact and recovery statements.
• Build effective stakeholder engagement; maintain relationships with budget holders and wider stakeholders.
• Support preparation, monitoring and control of forecasts and budgets for specified areas, including change control.
• Provide input to cost reports, including trend analysis and early warnings as necessary.
• Assist and support the preparation of cost studies using historical data; provide benchmarking data where needed.
• Provide cost information for the financial case on business cases.
• Continuously improve service quality by identifying opportunities and prioritising changes that add value.
