Job summary

National Energy System Operator (NESO) is seeking a Strategy Engineer to shape GB's future network planning. You will work with engineering, economics, policy, and regulation to develop strategy and implement methodologies for the Centralised Strategic Network Plan (CSNP).

This role offers hybrid working from multiple offices across the UK and supports flexible arrangements. The role emphasizes strategic thinking, problem solving under uncertainty and effective communication to influence policy

Qualifications

• Knowledge of energy system domains (power, transmission, policy) and ability to learn quickly.
• Ability to work across policy, economics, engineering and data science.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to present complex ideas clearly.

Responsibilities

• Strategy development: horizon scanning, strategic direction, governance.
• Strategy implementation: translate strategy into methodologies and requirements.
• Stakeholder engagement: coordinate with NESO, Ofgem, DESNZ and other stakeholders.
• Support option development and practical planning for future network planning.
