Browne Jacobson LLP in Nottingham is seeking a Credit Controller to join the Credit Control team on a six-month fixed-term contract, covering parental leave. You will focus on prompt collection of overdue debts, maintain accurate records and resolve client queries while protecting client relationships.

The role requires prior credit control experience, IT literacy with Excel and Word, and a professional telephone manner. You will work in a hybrid setup with a supportive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Previous credit control experience is essential, ideally in the legal sector.
• IT literacy with strong keyboard skills; Excel and Word are essential.
• Confident telephone manner; ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Able to pursue overdue payments assertively while maintaining positive client relationships.
• Experience in a legal firm is preferable.

Responsibilities

• Chase overdue debts in line with procedures and follow up on promises to pay.
• Maintain client data, log collections activity, and generate statements.
• Liaise with legal teams to resolve queries and manage email/phone communications.
• Work in Nottingham office and support the Credit Control Team Leader.
• Prioritise workload and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Negotiate payment plans and settlements professionally.
