Job summary

Virginia Department of Transportation is seeking a communications professional to support the District Communications Manager and team. You will help implement the statewide communications plan, create informational materials, and draft speeches, alerts, and presentations for public and internal audiences.

Responsibilities include media monitoring, stakeholder engagement, and serving as needed in emergency communications.

Qualifications

• Ability to conduct interviews with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to develop content across multiple platforms (e.g., newsletters, web, social media, presentations).
• Ability to generate visual content for internal and external materials such as social media, newsletters, websites, videos.
• Ability to perform administrative duties as assigned.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of crisis or emergency communications.

Responsibilities

• Contribute information for internal communications tools and develop brochures, scripts, alerts, speeches and presentations.
• Maintain district media contact list and monitor media coverage for VDOT stories.
• Provide communications support during emergencies and coordinate with other offices as needed.
