Job summary

Commonwealth Of Virginia is seeking qualified personnel to perform regional traffic control and facility operations. The role involves coordinating communications, maintaining logs, and operating TMS systems to ensure public safety on bridges, tunnels, and roadways.

The position requires following SOPs, handling routine and emergency situations, and delivering high-quality customer service. A valid driver's license is required, with a high school diploma or GED preferred.

Qualifications

• Must follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to gather data and prepare reports.
• Operate and maintain equipment used on bridges, tunnels and roadways.
• Knowledge of Bridge and Tunnel operations.
• Knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures and other applicable policies and regulations governing emergency and non-emergency traffic situations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and conduct facility communications via radio and telephone in a clear and concise manner.
• Proactively respond to customers (motorists, co-workers).
• Provide clear, accurate information and directions in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
• Maintain logs and reports as described in SOPs and other applicable policies.
• Provide effective traffic control by operating and monitoring TMS systems (CCTV monitors, CO Analyzers, Haze Detectors, fire alarms, traffic map board, NewTon, etc.).
• Respond to routine and emergency situations.
