Job summary

National Highways is seeking a Head of Asset Management (Managed Estate) to lead the teams handling our non‑occupied land and property assets, aligning strategy with business priorities and value delivery.

You will drive integration with the Estates & Facilities Leadership Team, ensuring safe, compliant, and commercially focused management across portfolio and land held for future schemes.

Qualifications

• Chartered surveyor with proven property and estates leadership experience.
• Experience managing complex property portfolios, disposals, and leases.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
• Budget management with commercial awareness and value delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy and management of the managed estate portfolio for value and efficiency.
• Ensure safety, compliance and governance across non‑occupied land and property.
• Oversee disposals and transaction management with internal and external partners.
• Manage large external suppliers and contract performance for value for money.
• Provide expert advice on leases, wayleaves, easements and landlord issues.
• Drive Estates & Facilities leadership and cross‑functional improvement.
