Job summary

National Highways is seeking a Head of Asset Management (Managed Estate) to lead the strategy and performance of its non-occupied estate and land held for future schemes. You will drive value, ensure safety and compliance, and manage disposals and external contracts.

This role sits within Estates & Facilities and requires strategic leadership across a complex organisation. The position involves leading cross-functional teams, advising on leases and land matters, and working with multiple offices

Qualifications

Chartered Surveyor (RICS) with strategic property leadership experience.
Experience managing complex property portfolios and disposals.
Ability to lead high-performing teams through internal and external partners.
Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing and negotiation skills.
Strong budgets, contracts and financial planning experience.
Strategic thinker able to align priorities across a complex organisation.

Responsibilities

Lead strategy and management of the managed estate to maximise value.
Ensure estate safety, compliance and governance.
Oversee disposal of property no longer required by the business.
Oversee contract management of large external suppliers.
Provide expert advice on leases, wayleaves, easements, landlord and tenant issues.
Contribute to Estates & Facilities leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
