Job summary

National Highways is seeking a Head of Asset Management (Managed Estate) to lead the strategy and operation of our non-occupied estate and land held for future schemes. You will drive value, ensure safety and compliance, and oversee disposals and external contracts across a wide portfolio.

The role requires Chartered Surveyor (RICS) qualification, proven leadership of property teams, and strong stakeholder negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• Chartered Surveyor (RICS) with proven property management experience.
• Experience handling complex property portfolios including disposals and landlord/tenant issues.
• Proven leadership of high-performing teams and external partners.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing and negotiation skills.
• Experience managing budgets, contracts and financial plans with commercial awareness.
• Strategic thinker translating property expertise into business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the strategy and management of National Highways' managed estate, maximizing value from non-occupied property and land held pending future schemes.
• Ensure the estate remains safe, compliant and effectively governed, meeting statutory, regulatory and organisational requirements.
• Oversee the disposal of property no longer required, providing leadership across strategy, governance and transaction management.
• Oversee contract management of large external suppliers to maintain service levels and value for money.
• Provide expert advice on complex property matters, including leases, wayleaves and disposals.
• Contribute to Estates & Facilities leadership, driving cross-functional collaboration and best practice across land and property management.
