Job summary

Affinia is seeking a Director in our Accounts team to lead a high-performing client portfolio, acting as strategic advisor and ensuring accurate, timely, and commercially effective services. You will support teams across Brighton and Hassocks, oversee complex engagements, and drive efficiency while maintaining quality and risk controls.

You will mentor and develop managers and senior accountants, contribute to succession planning, and lead firm-wide projects to improve operations and client

Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA or equivalent qualification fully qualified.
• 7–10 years in UK accountancy practice with Manager experience.
• Up-to-date CPD in accounting and tax compliance.
• Expert understanding of UK GAAP (FRS 102), corporate tax and VAT.
• Experience reviewing and signing off complex statutory accounts and advisory work.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of services across a portfolio of complex/high-value clients with deadlines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Act as strategic advisor on financial, regulatory, and operational matters.
• Identify client risks and upsell opportunities in collaboration with Partners.
• Manage and develop Managers and Senior Accountants, ensuring performance and succession planning.
• Review file completion and engagement documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
