Affinia is seeking a Manager in the Accounts team to lead delivery of statutory accounts, VAT, and management reports for a diverse client portfolio.

You will coach and develop a team of Assistant Managers, Seniors, and Trainees, ensuring UK GAAP compliance and driving process improvements while maintaining strong client relationships.

Collaborating with Directors, you will contribute to strategy, business development, and internal projects to grow the practice.

Competenze

• ACA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification (fully qualified)
• Ideally 5+ years' experience in a UK accountancy practice
• Up-to-date CPD record and strong working knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS 102, IFRS an advantage)
• Advanced experience in preparing/reviewing statutory accounts, VAT returns, and corporate tax computations
• Proficient in practice management and accounting software (CCH, Xero, Sage, QuickBooks)
• Strong understanding of WIP, billing, and commercial metrics in a professional services environment
• Proven experience in supervising, mentoring, and developing junior staff
• Confident in delivering feedback and conducting appraisals
• Ability to manage team workflow and oversee performance
• Excellent written and verbal communication with clients/internal stakeholders
• Ability to manage client relationships and provide proactive advisory
• Commercially aware with fee/scope discussions
• Highly organised with multiple priorities
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Professional, credible, and aligned with firm values

Mansioni

• Manage a portfolio of clients across industries, delivering timely statutory accounts and VAT returns
• Plan, allocate, and monitor assignments, ensuring on-time delivery and budget adherence
• Review complex accounts and tax computations, providing clear feedback
• Act as main client contact, building relationships and identifying advisory opportunities
• Monitor WIP, billing, and recovery rates; manage scope and overruns
• Coach and mentor team; lead regular 1:1s and development plans
• Conduct formal performance appraisals and support progression decisions
• Ensure adherence to UK GAAP and regulatory requirements; flag risks
• Assist Directors with client proposals, pitches, and new business opportunities
• Contribute to internal processes and participate in projects within the Accounts service line
