Job summary

Affinia in Crawley, UK is seeking an Assistant Manager/Manager to lead the Accounts team. You will oversee planning, execution and review of client assignments, ensuring technical compliance and exceptional service across a diverse portfolio.

You will coach Junior staff, develop clients with advisory input, and help drive growth while maintaining strong relationships and robust financial controls.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification (fully qualified).
• 5+ years' experience in a UK accountancy practice.
• Strong knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS 102; IFRS advantageous).
• Experience preparing statutory accounts, VAT returns, and tax computations.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, execution and review of complex client assignments.
• Oversee a team of Assistant Managers, Seniors and Trainees.
• Ensure statutory accounts, management reports and VAT returns are accurate.
• Maintain client relationships and identify advisory opportunities.
• Monitor WIP and billing; manage fee discussions and scope changes.
• Provide coaching, performance feedback and appraisals.
• Support recruitment and workforce planning within the team.
• Ensure adherence to UK GAAP and regulatory requirements.
