Job summary

South Staffordshire Limited is seeking a reliable Stores Person to support warehouse and inventory operations. The role involves receiving, storing, picking, packing and dispatching stock, maintaining accurate records, and supporting stock control to meet operational needs.

You will drive and deliver as required, perform vehicle inspections, maintain safety standards, and work with customers and internal teams.

Qualifications

  • Valid full driving licence appropriate for the vehicle driven.
  • B+E entitlement on licence (essential).
  • Previous experience in a warehouse, stores, delivery, or logistics environment.
  • Good understanding of safe loading, unloading, and manual handling practices.
  • Ability to accurately pick, pack, and manage stock while maintaining inventory records.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety requirements, including site and road safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Safely load, transport, and deliver materials to customer and construction sites in compliance with road traffic legislation and company procedures.
  • Collect returns, surplus materials, and equipment from sites, ensuring accurate records and documentation.
  • Verify deliveries and collections to ensure orders are complete and meet customer requirements.
  • Photograph delivered and collected materials and maintain clear records using company systems.
  • Conduct daily vehicle and trailer inspections and report faults or maintenance needs.
  • Maintain vehicles, trailers, and warehouse equipment in a clean, safe condition.
  • Adhere to site regulations, health and safety requirements and company policies.
  • Receive, store, pick, pack, and dispatch stock accurately to support operations.
  • Maintain accurate stock records and report discrepancies or shortages.
  • Keep warehouse stock locations organized and materials stored safely.
  • Keep the warehouse and work areas clean and safe.

Job description

Contract:Full-Time | Permanent | 45 hours per week

The Role:

We are seeking a reliable and proactive Stores Person to support the efficient operation of our warehouse and inventory functions. In this role, you will be responsible for receiving, storing, picking, packing, and dispatching stock, while maintaining accurate inventory records and supporting general stock control activities. You will help ensure materials and equipment are handled safely, stored correctly, and readily available to meet operational requirements. As required, you will also undertake delivery and collection duties, transporting stock and materials to and from field locations. The role involves regular interaction with customer staff and IGL employees across various departments, so strong communication skills, a customer-focused approach, and the ability to build positive working relationships are essential. This is a hands‑on position suited to an organized individual who takes pride in maintaining high standards of service, accuracy, and workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure warehouse stock locations are organised and materials are stored safely and correctly.
  • Keep the warehouse and work areas clean, tidy, and well organised to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Work collaboratively with customers, drivers, and internal teams, participating in team meetings and supporting warehouse operations as required.

What you’ll need:

  • Physical capability to undertake the manual aspects of the role, including lifting, loading, and moving materials.
