Job summary

Polytec Personnel Ltd based in Cambridge, UK, is seeking a Stores Operative on a temporary basis until 31 December 2026. The role is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexible hours between 8am and 6pm.

Salary is £13.85–£14.87 per hour. You will be responsible for receipt, storage, inventory control and dispatch of components and finished goods, maintaining accurate records and supporting internal teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in warehouse, stores or logistics environments.
• Strong attention to detail with accurate record-keeping.

Responsibilities

Polytec are looking for a Stores Operative to be responsible for the receipt, storage, inventory control and dispatch of components and finished goods within a busy operational environment. The role ensures accurate stock management, efficient order fulfilment and adherence to internal processes and quality standards while supporting internal teams and customer deliveries.

Responsibilities

• - Manage the receipt, inspection, storage and accurate recording of incoming goods within the warehouse system
• - Pick, kit and issue components for production orders and internal requests while maintaining organised and safe storage areas
• - Prepare and dispatch customer and internal shipments, including packing, labelling, documentation and arranging courier collections
• - Process returned goods, demo equipment and other incoming materials while ensuring records are correctly updated

Requirements

• - Previous experience working in a warehouse, stores or logistics environment
• - Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records and inventory levels
• - Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams
• - A proactive, reliable team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
• - Familiarity with inventory, warehouse management or ERP systems (SAP knowledge beneficial but not essential)
• - Understanding of logistics processes, courier coordination and warehouse safety practices
