Job summary

Proactive Global is recruiting a Stores Operative in Cambridge to join a growing engineering company. You will handle data entry, maintain stock records, and support production component selection and shipment.

The ideal candidate is IT literate, proactive and comfortable working in a manufacturing environment, with experience using stock control systems such as SAGE. The role is on-site, Monday to Friday with day shifts.

Qualifications

• Must be IT literate and able to use stock control software effectively.
• Pro-active attitude with ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Experience in a manufacturing, production or engineering environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Ensure reliability of the Stores information system and train the team on data entry.
• Maintain stock records, keep information systems up to date and accurate.
• Analyse stock reports, investigate discrepancies and adjust as required.
• Assist in selecting components/parts for production and support/shipment activities.
• Support safe working procedures and housekeeping across Stores and Yard areas.

Job description

Position: Stores Operative

Salary: £13.00ph - £15.00ph

Location: Cambridge

Hours: Monday to Friday 08:00am - 16:00pm

Proactive currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Stores Operative to begin work for a leading engineering company based in Cambridge. Working out of their new state of art facility, they design, manufacture, assemble, test and ship bespoke printing equipment.

Due to rapid company expansion and an ever growing order book, our client is hoping to recruit at least one additional Stores Operative to help ensure the quality and accuracy of the stores function is well maintained throughout this new and excited influx of work.

You will be responsible for:

1. To take responsibility for the reliability of the Stores business information system, ensuring that the Stores Team are fully conversant with the required data entry process, providing training, support and guidance as appropriate.
2. To ensure the Stores Team adhere to established stock control processes and procedures, keeping the information system up to date and reliable.
3. To analyse stock reports, check validity, investigate and resolve any discrepancies, and make adjustments as required, making suggestions for greater efficiency and improvements as appropriate.
4. To participate in the team's general activities in selecting components and kits for production, selecting spare parts orders and assisting Logistics colleagues in the shipment of goods out according to agreed Stores procedures.
5. To support the Senior Team Leader in the upholding and undertaking of safe systems of work and good housekeeping in all Stores and Yard areas across the Inca site.

The ideal candidate will be:

• An experienced Stores Operative, ideally with experience working within a manufacturing, production, or engineering environment.
• IT literate, and ideally have experience working with stock control systems such as SAGE scanning, printing off picking lists, etc.
• A pro-active person, someone not afraid to ask questions and who does not require micro-managing
