Job summary

Hayley Dexis in Kirkby Thore, Cumbria, is recruiting a Stores Assistant to join our team on a permanent basis. The role is hands-on and varied, with 24–40 hours per week and duties spanning stock control, customer service, purchasing support, and continuous improvement projects.

You’ll work with a friendly team, receive training through the Hayley Academy, and enjoy benefits including life cover, pension, healthcare schemes, and 23 days’ annual leave plus holidays.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a stores, warehouse, stock control, or customer service environment.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Confident communicating with customers and colleagues at all levels.
• Comfortable using computer systems for order processing and stock management.
• A proactive approach and willingness to support the team wherever needed.
• Ability to prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Processing customer orders accurately and efficiently
• Receiving deliveries, checking goods, and booking stock into the system
• Managing stock levels and supporting effective inventory control
• Assisting with stock takes and maintaining accurate stock records
• Supporting stock reduction and continuous improvement projects
• Identifying obsolete or slow-moving stock and helping to reduce excess inventory
• Preparing and sending quotations to the customer
• Providing excellent customer service, both over the phone and at the trade counter
• Supporting the wider team with day‑to‑day stores and administration activities
