Job summary

Change Grow Live in Manchester is seeking a Specialist Stop Smoking Advisor for a fixed-term 12‑month contract. You will deliver high-quality stop smoking interventions across the region, including harm reduction, brief advice, and structured programmes, in community settings, organisations, or remotely.

The role requires 37.5 hours weekly and involves mentoring and collaboration with the Nurse Manager. Applicants should have health/social care experience, strong knowledge of smoking cessation

Qualifications

• Experience of working within a Health and/or social care environment.
• Understanding and knowledgeable of the harmful effects associated with smoking.
• Awareness of current national policies on smoking and the strategies that influence the priorities of stop smoking services.
• In-depth knowledge of the treatments and interventions available to smokers and people who vape.
• Experience of carrying out assessments and delivering interventions matched to identified needs.
• Ability to maintain accurate records of work undertaken.
• Willingness to undertake training and development as required.
• Experience of using Microsoft packages and electronic recording systems.

Responsibilities

• Promote the benefits of stopping smoking and vaping across venues and events.
• Work as part of a specialist team providing brief advice and structured programmes.
• Follow NRT, Varenicline, and E-cigarette protocol.
• Ensure services are tailored to target groups and referrals increase.
• Engage with professionals and the wider community to raise awareness of health impacts.
• Record all interventions accurately in record management systems.
• Keep up to date with policy developments in smoking cessation.
• Provide guidance to apprentices, volunteers and students on placement.
