Responsible for:The post holder will have no direct reports, but will be expected to perform all the key responsibilities described with some supervision and for presenting themselves and their work effectively.
Basic function
The main objective of this role is to support retail supervisor to achieve shop targets bymovement and replenishment of stock between our donation points and multi-channel retail outlets. The successful applicant will also be required to work in one of our stores or other retail outlets in a sales capacity to meet the needs of the business. Our Retail portfolio currently includes three shops located in Hackney, market and pop up stalls and events, and our online channels. More shops may be acquired in the future. Collecting donations from local home owners or corporates may also be part of our future plans. The post holder will also be responsible for packing and dispatching by mail all online orders.
The Stock & Retail Supervisor will be a key holder, working 4 days out of 7 days, and is required to have a clean manual driving licence. It is important to note that the nature of the work will require a lot heavy lifting.
Organisational context
St Joseph’s Hospice was founded in 1905 by the Religious Sisters of Charity who retain an interest in the oversight of the Hospice. The Hospice is working to achieve Vision 2024, which has five key strands: patients, enterprise, estates, funding and fundraising, and human resources. The Hospice seeks to be an outstanding provider of palliative and end of life care. Each employee is critical to delivering and maintain those standards in accordance with the Hospice’s core values.
Discretion to act
The post holder will make day-to-day decisions under the direction of the Retail Manager, and in line with Hospice and Retail processes and procedures.
Scale and impact
The post holder will not be responsible for any direct reports and will not have any budget responsibility. However, they are expected to have an understanding of the sales target for each outlet and work towards achieving them with support from the Retail Manager.
Key accountabilities
2.10 Develop accurate end of day figure sheets and any other financial or other reports required by the Retail Manager
4.1Communicate effectively between volunteers, Retail Supervisors and the Retail Manager to ensure that all stock needs are met
5.1Identify your own learning and development needs in order to meet the key requirements of the post.
5.2Take responsibility for linking your own development needs with the Hospice appraisal and objective setting process.
5.3Take responsibility for your own continuing development by undertaking specific areas of work/projects to develop new skills.
5.4Take responsibility for your own professional development, including keeping up-to-date with relevant professional and other developments in HR at local and national levels
