Ambitek Limited Recruitment is seeking an experienced Steel Erector to join our client's team in Trafford Park, Manchester. You will read and interpret blueprints, erect steel structures, bolt components, and ensure correct alignment and safety on large industrial projects.

This full-time role offers overtime opportunities and long-term stability with a reputable civils and mechanical engineering contractor.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Steel Erector on large-scale projects.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints/technical drawings.
• Competence in welding and bolting steel components.
• Comfortable working at heights and following strict safety protocols.
• Valid CSCS/CCNSG card is required.

Responsibilities

• Reading and Interpreting Blueprints: Accurately read and interpret engineering drawings to ensure correct installation of steel structures.
• Erecting Steel Structures: Use cranes and other heavy lifting equipment to position, align, and secure steel girders, columns, beams, and other structural components.
• Bolting: Perform bolting tasks to join steel components securely, following precise specifications and safety guidelines.
• Ensuring Structural Integrity: Verify the proper alignment and stability of steel structures, making adjustments as necessary to maintain structural integrity.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations, including PPE, scaffolding, safety nets, and working at heights.
• Problem Solving: Identify and resolve issues during erection, such as misaligned parts or obstacles.
• Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Inspect and maintain tools and safety equipment for optimal performance.
• Coordination: Work with crane operators, welders, and site supervisors to ensure workflow.

Key Responsibilities

• Reading and Interpreting Blueprints: Accurately read and understand engineering drawings, blueprints, and other technical documents to ensure correct installation of steel structures.
• Erecting Steel Structures: Use cranes and other heavy lifting equipment to position, align, and secure steel girders, columns, beams, and other structural components.
• Bolting: Perform bolting tasks to join steel components securely, following precise specifications and safety guidelines.
• Ensuring Structural Integrity: Verify the proper alignment and stability of steel structures, making adjustments as necessary to maintain structural integrity.
• Safety Compliance: Rigorously adhere to all safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), setting up scaffolding, safety nets, and ensuring a safe working environment at heights.
• Problem Solving: Identify and resolve any issues that may arise during the steel erection process, such as misaligned parts or unexpected obstacles.
• Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain tools, machinery, and safety equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
• Coordination: Work closely with other trades, including crane operators, welders, and site supervisors, to ensure efficient workflow and project completion.

Qualifications and Experience

• Proven experience as a Steel Erector with a strong track record of working on large-scale projects.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Competence in welding and bolting steel components.
• Comfortable working at heights and following strict safety protocols.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently as part of a team.
• Valid CSCS/CCNSG card is required.
• Relevant certifications in steel erection are advantageous.

Additional Information

• Location: Trafford Park, Manchester
• Working Hours: Full-time, with the possibility of overtime.
• Rate: £24.05 per hour (CIS or Umbrella)
