Job summary

Liverpool City Council is seeking a proactive Statutory School Attendance Officer to support schools in improving attendance and fulfilling statutory duties. You will act as the main contact for Liverpool schools, providing guidance on attendance and inclusion and undertaking statutory interventions where needed.

You will work with families, schools and partner agencies to remove barriers to attendance and contribute to better outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.

The role:


We're looking for a proactive and committed professional to join the Statutory School Attendance Service as a Statutory School Attendance Officer. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children, young people, and families across the city.


As a Statutory School Attendance Officer, you will play a key role in supporting schools to improve attendance and fulfil the council's statutory responsibilities in relation to school attendance.


You will:



  • Act as the main point of contact for schools in Liverpool, providing expert advice and guidance on attendance and inclusion

  • Support schools in meeting their legal responsibilities around school attendance

  • Undertake statutory interventions in cases of persistent or severe absence

  • Work collaboratively with families, schools, and partner agencies to remove barriers to attendance

  • Contribute to improving outcomes for vulnerable children and young people
