Job summary

Cardiff Council’s Caretaking Services are seeking a reliable cleaner for a Community Living Scheme in Cardiff. You will clean communal areas, maintain high cleanliness standards, and help keep residents safe and comfortable on-site.

This permanent, full-time role offers on-site work, training, and the Living Wage Supplement, with Welsh language skills considered advantageous and support for job sharing available.

The Caretaking Services team is looking for a reliable and committed individual to join our team at a Community Living Scheme in Cardiff. This scheme provides modern accommodation for older people living independently and offers a range of communal facilities designed to promote wellbeing, independence, and community living. Our team plays a key role in ensuring the scheme remains clean, safe, and welcoming for residents, visitors, and staff.

About the job

You will be responsible for delivering a high standard of cleaning throughout the scheme. Duties will include:

• Cleaning communal areas including corridors, lounges, lifts, stairwells, toilets, kitchens, and other shared facilities
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the building
• Ensuring communal areas remain safe, presentable, and welcoming
• Reporting repairs, health and safety concerns, and other issues identified during your work
• Supporting the wider Caretaking Services team in maintaining a quality environment for residents

You will work independently on site while also being part of the wider Estate Services and Caretaking Services team.

Full training and support will be provided

What We Are Looking For From You

• An understanding of health and safety requirements
• Previous cleaning experience is desirable, although full training will be provided
• The ability to speak other languages, in particular Welsh, and Community Languages would be an advantage.

This post is permanent and is suitable for job share.

This salary is subject to the Living Wage Supplement that tops up the basic rate of pay to £13.45 per hour. The supplement will be reviewed every April. Cardiff Council reserves the right to make any changes to, or removal of, the Living Wage Supplement.
