Job description

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead external engagement with MPs and Councils on a range of issues, including Thames Water's biggest ever investment programme to improve performance across the capital.

You will manage and deliver political and stakeholder engagement activities across London to protect and enhance the company's reputation.

This role is integral, responsible for delivering a programme of engagement to ensure MPs and senior councillors are informed of Thames Water’s key messages. You will also respond to stakeholder queries, ensure attendance at key meetings, and identify opportunities to promote the company’s turnaround plan.

What you will be doing as Stakeholder Engagement Manager

• Serve as the primary contact in Thames Water for senior political stakeholders on local issues.
• Develop existing and establish new political relationships.
• Provide insights and advice on effective engagement strategies to senior leaders.
• Support incident communication efforts to keep stakeholders informed.
• Lead the London Stakeholder Engagement Team effectively.

What you should bring to the role

• Significant experience engaging with stakeholders, especially within local government.
• Proven leadership skills.
• Experience advising colleagues, including at the executive level, on successful engagement.
• Experience in external engagement, preferably in a regulated sector, with a strong understanding of external environments and stakeholder positions.
• Excellent written communication skills for various channels and audiences.
• Strong verbal communication skills, including presentations to diverse audiences.
• Ability to build strong relationships and challenge conventional approaches.
• Effective collaboration skills and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
