Job summary

The Royal & Derngate in Northampton is seeking a Stage Door Receptionist to welcome visitors, manage sign-in, passes and front-of-house duties, while supporting rehearsals and performances. You will work closely with Production, Technical, Company Management and Engagement teams to ensure a warm, secure and efficient entry to backstage areas.

This role requires a friendly, professional manner, experience in busy front-of-house environments, and good IT and communications skills.

Qualifications

• Experience in a reception, front-of-house, or customer-facing role.
• Experience working in a busy, fast-paced environment.
• Understanding of the importance of confidentiality, safeguarding, and security procedures.
• Experience handling phone enquiries and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provide a professional and welcoming front-of-house presence for cast, crew, creatives, participants and visitors.
• Manage sign-in procedures and issue passes in line with theatre and contractor policies.
• Answer and direct incoming calls and backstage enquiries.
• Receive and distribute post, parcels and deliveries.
• Control access to backstage areas, including monitoring Fire Alarm, Intruder Alarm and CCTV.
• Maintain accurate visitor & activity logs.
• Respond to emergencies in line with evacuation and safety procedures.
• Maintain up-to-date call sheets and contact lists.
• Share key operational information across departments.
• Support artists and visiting companies with practical queries.
• Provide a calm, organised presence during busy periods (e.g. technical weeks and performances).
• Provide digs information as required.
• Log incidents and elevate where appropriate.
• Provide general administrative support to management.
• Maintain a tidy, organised and welcoming stage door environment.
