Job summary

Mayflower is seeking a professional and security-minded individual to join the Stage Door team in Southampton. The role is a permanent contract, 37.5 hours per week, including evenings, weekends and occasional overnights.

You will be the first contact for colleagues, visitors and contractors, delivering a warm reception while helping to maintain a secure environment across Mayflower Theatre & Mayflower Studio.

Qualifications

• Flexible shift pattern, including evenings, late nights, overnights, weekends and holidays.
• Experience in customer-facing reception, security, concierge or front-of-house.
• Excellent customer service for a welcoming first impression.
• Experience operating CCTV, access-control or security monitoring systems.
• Experience implementing evacuation procedures and responding to emergencies.
• Experience handling difficult or confrontational situations with de-escalation.
• Accurate records, reports and incident documentation skills.
• Hold a valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a warm, professional, helpful reception service as the first point of contact.
• Answer Stage Door enquiries in person, by phone and via agreed channels.
• Respond calmly to incidents, emergencies and challenging situations.
• Open the venue and securely lock up at the end of operations; frequent movement required.
• Monitor CCTV, alarms and access-control systems and escalate as needed.
• Manage visitor and contractor records, keys, passes, post and deliveries securely.
• Support emergency evacuations and follow safety and incident procedures.
• Collaborate with Security, Front of House, Technical and Facilities teams.
