Workplace Classification: Hybrid — This position does not require full-time onsite presence. Employees are expected to be onsite up to 3 times per week at either our Charlotte or Austin Technical Centers.
The Team: GM’s Motorsports Software team develops innovative IT software solutions for motorsports, enabling advanced interactions between GM Global Engineering, GM Motorsports, and race teams, supporting NASCAR, IndyCar, and IMSA sportscar racing.
The Role: The Staff Software Engineer provides technical leadership and software delivery, with a focus on scalable cloud systems, solution architecture, and motorsports software development. The role involves building systems that give GM Motorsports a competitive edge and applying learnings to vehicle development, with a focus on aerodynamics systems design.
Responsibilities include leading a team in implementing aero-thermal applications, designing solution architectures, ensuring high code quality, collaborating across teams, and managing project milestones.
Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, extensive experience in CFD, microservices, cloud platforms, and application development, along with strong leadership and collaboration skills. Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree, experience in aerodynamics, AI & ML, VR frameworks, data streaming, and system architecture.
