Our team collaborates with GM Motorsports Engineering and Race teams to ensure podium finishes in NASCAR, IndyCar, and IMSA sportscar events, leveraging innovative interactions and systems to give our drivers a competitive edge.

The Role:

The Staff Software Engineer will provide technical leadership and software delivery. This senior role requires an expert technical foundation, hands-on project contributions, architecture development, and experience with scalable cloud systems. You will shape and build motorsports software, focusing on aerodynamics systems design to support race day performance and vehicle development.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead a team developing GM Motorsports aero-thermal applications, including CFD modeling, visualization, and analysis; create modular, pluggable systems.
  2. Design solution architectures and lead team consensus on implementation.
  3. Focus on modern application design, code quality, and loosely connected system frameworks.
  4. Identify value gaps within the aerodynamics team and develop solutions.
  5. Resolve technical blockers and ensure smooth delivery milestones.
  6. Manage Scrum story delivery and contribute to build frameworks, interfaces, testing, and deployment.
  7. Collaborate with team members to support project goals.
  8. Be self-managed and reliable in delivering your assigned solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant technical field.
  • Expertise in CFD systems, microservices, or data streaming platforms.
  • Experience with full stack application design and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • At least 5 years of microservices development experience.
  • At least 2 years of web services design and development experience.
  • Proficiency with containerization tools like Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, and agile methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a technical discipline.
  • Knowledge of aerodynamics engineering.
  • Experience with AI & Machine Learning, VR frameworks (Unity, Unreal), data streaming tech (Kafka, Pulsar), and cross-platform development.
