Workplace Classification:

Hybrid: This position does not require full-time onsite presence. Employees are expected to be onsite up to 3 times per week at our Charlotte or Austin Technical Centers.

The Team:

GM’s Motorsports Software team develops innovative IT solutions for Motorsports, leveraging cloud infrastructure and software standards. Our team collaborates with GM Motorsports Engineering and Race teams to ensure competitive advantages in NASCAR, IndyCar, and IMSA sportscar racing.

The Role:

The Staff Software Engineer provides technical leadership and software delivery, with expertise in scalable cloud systems. You will shape and build motorsports software, focusing on aerodynamics systems design, to support our race teams and apply learnings to production vehicles.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead a team to develop and maintain GM Motorsports aero-thermal applications, including CFD modeling and visualization.
2. Design solution architectures and guide the team on implementation strategies.
3. Focus on modern application design, modular frameworks, and system integration.
4. Identify and fill value gaps within the aerodynamics team with innovative solutions.
5. Resolve technical blockers and ensure smooth project delivery.
6. Deliver scrum stories and contribute to build frameworks, testing, and deployment.
7. Collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
8. Manage your deliverables reliably and independently.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Expertise in CFD systems, microservices, or data streaming platforms.
• Experience in full-stack application development and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• 5+ years in microservices development; 2+ years in web services design.
• Proficiency with containerization tools like Kubernetes and Docker.
• Understanding of devops practices, CI/CD, and agile methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in a technical discipline.
• Exposure to aerodynamics engineering.
• Knowledge of AI/ML, VR frameworks, data streaming tech, and cross-platform development.
• Leadership and architecture experience, with a passion for motorsports.
