Workplace Classification: Hybrid - This position does not require full-time on-site presence. Up to 3 days per week at Charlotte or Austin Technical Centers.

The Team:

GM’s Motorsports Software team develops innovative IT solutions for motorsports, enabling interactions between GM Global Engineering, GM Motorsports, and race teams for NASCAR, IndyCar, and IMSA.

The Role:

The Staff Software Engineer provides technical leadership and software delivery, contributing to scalable cloud systems, solution architectures, and motorsports software development, with a focus on aerodynamics systems design.

Responsibilities include:

• Leading development of GM Motorsports aero-thermal applications including CFD models.
• Designing solution architectures and leading team consensus.
• Focusing on modern application design, modular frameworks, and system integration.
• Collaborating across teams to identify and fill value gaps.
• Removing technical blockers and ensuring smooth delivery.
• Delivering Scrum stories and contributing to build, test, and deployment processes.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant discipline.
• Expertise in CFD systems, microservices, data streaming platforms.
• Experience in full stack application development and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• 5+ years in microservices development; 2+ years in web services design.
• Containerization with Kubernetes, Docker; understanding of CI/CD and Agile methodologies.

Desired Skills:

• Masters in a technical field, aerodynamics exposure, AI & ML knowledge.
• Experience with VR frameworks, data streaming tech, cross-platform development, and UI/UX design.
• Leadership and architecture experience, knowledge of data serialization, and passion for motorsports.
