Job summary

Qualifications

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool for dynamic Staff Nurses to join our established team of highly motivated and committed nursing staff within Ward 2, Elective Orthopaedic Joint Replacement Unit.

The ward areas offer a supportive working environment alongside opportunities to develop individual clinical competence.

It is an excellent ward to learn if you are starting your nursing career and to continue to develop your knowledge base, if you have more experience

Providing high quality nursing care within the unit the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, team working skills and dedicated to improving the patients experience.

You will need to demonstrate continuing professional development and a strong commitment to develop others and work closely within a Multi-disciplinary team.

Full time and part time posts available

Main duties of the job

Admission and discharge of patients

Pre and post operative care

Assisting in treatment room procedures

Working closely with MDT team

Supporting students nurses in the workplace

The successful candidate must be driven to develop new skills and knowledge whilst always keeping the patient at the centre of what they do.

They must be a positive role model and lead by example.

Applicants must possess excellent communication skills, have a flexible working approach and a willingness to work as part of a forward thinking team, as well as a strong commitment to ensuring a positive hospital experience for patients and their relatives/carers

Job responsibilities

Participate in maintaining a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for all patients and carers and maintain agreed standards of nursing care.

Determines nursing priorities and plans patient care. Informs the nurse incharge when changes in circumstances may affect patient care.

Maintain nursing records in accordance with the NMC and Trust guidelines.

Maintain and improve quality of patient care through contribution to thedevelopment of Essence of Care and clinical benchmarking within the unit.

Ensure due regard is given to customs, values and spiritual beliefs ofpatients.

Providing information and support to patients/carers, and ensuring all those involved in the care are aware of changes in the patients condition.

Assist in the safe custody, checking and administration of drugs.

To develop the clinical knowledge and skills to care for acutely ill patientsadmitted via both planned route.

Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse, current NMC registration
  • Diploma in Nursing
Experience
  • Post registration experience and successful completion of band 5 foundation gateway competencies Recent acute hospital experience [including as a student nurse]
  • Experience within relevant clinical setting
  • Evidence of maintaining a clinical learning environment.
  • Evidence of working with students
  • Recent acute hospital experience [including as a student nurse]
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of current nursing issues and clinical governance
  • Demonstrates awareness of own limitations
Skills
