Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen at University Hospital Aintree, to support the Major Trauma Ward as a band 5 staff nurse.

Preference would be given to candidates with experience in dealing with patients with acute/complex injuries; equally welcome would be candidates with experience in acute surgical settings.

Applicants must possess excellent communication and organisational skills, and should be prepared to work in a flexible working environment.

Your role will adopt a strategic approach to inpatient care, supporting ward-based colleagues.

The post holder will be responsible for providing a comprehensive nursing service to inpatients through clinical practice and work effectively within the multidisciplinary team.

Band 5 staff nurse must have the ability to care for polytrauma patients and serve with the Merseyside and Cheshire major trauma network.

Registered Nurse Band 5

Qualifications
  1. Registered Nurse, current NMC registration
  2. Diploma in Nursing
  3. Mentorship/teaching qualification
  4. Post registration qualification in relevant specialty
Experience
  1. Post registration experience and successful completion of Band 5 foundation gateway competencies
  2. Experience within relevant clinical setting
  3. Experience of maintaining a clinical learning environment
  4. Evidence of working with students
  5. Recent acute hospital experience [including as a student nurse]
Knowledge
  1. Knowledge of current nursing issues and clinical governance
  2. Demonstrates awareness of own limitations
Skills
  1. Ability to organise workload and delegate tasks appropriately
  2. Ability to work as part of a team
  3. Ability to support less experienced staff
  4. Ability to problem solve
  5. Good written and verbal communication skills
  6. Basic IT skills, including e-mail and word processing
