Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN)

Job description

Gt Y Acute is an 18-bed mixed ward dedicated to admission and assessment. We are seeking an experienced RMN who is kind, compassionate, and focused on person-centred care.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team comprising Doctors, Nurses, Clinical Support Workers, Physiotherapists, Social Workers, Psychotherapists, and Occupational Therapists. You will also collaborate closely with the loved ones of service users to incorporate life story work into care planning.

This role offers training opportunities and at least monthly support from your line manager. We value team members who feel listened to and empowered to make positive changes.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Keeping accurate records, updating care plans, and conducting risk assessments.
  2. Monitoring physical health and responding to deteriorations in patient condition.
  3. Performing relevant assessments such as risk assessments, physical health assessments (e.g., MUST, Waterlow), and falls assessments.
  4. Leading meetings including MDT, admission, best interest, and discharge planning.
  5. Acting in the best interests of service users and advocating for those unable to advocate for themselves.
  6. Assessing service user capacity.
  7. Supervising and assessing student nurses.
  8. Providing line management supervision to clinical support workers.
  9. Being accountable for your work and practicing reflectively.
  10. Completing medication rounds and administering IM medications.
  11. Communicating regularly with carers.
  12. Completing nursing assessments such as continuing healthcare assessments.
  13. Overseeing admission and discharge processes.
  14. Working within legal frameworks, including checking T2/T3 forms, understanding 132 rights, and preparing tribunal reports as needed.
  15. Managing and overseeing the 136 suite.
