Job summary

Deliveroo is seeking a Staff Engineer for Dev Environments within the DoorDash Foundations group to own local and remote developer experiences across multiple companies. You’ll set technical direction, mentor engineers, and partner with leadership to translate complex problems into a clear technical strategy.

You’ll drive architecture for thousands of engineers, build scalable tooling, and create sandboxes for AI agents, with collaboration across Security, Infra, and Product Engineering.

Qualifications

• Track record of shipping production systems and leading cross-team initiatives.
• Hands-on fluency with Go, Python, TypeScript and Terraform.
• Experience managing compute via Kubernetes or lightweight VM/sandbox tech.
• Working knowledge of cloud networking and secure traffic routing.
• Experience integrating LLM/AI tooling into developer workflows.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to influence senior stakeholders.
• Experience building close working relationships with consuming engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Define architecture for dev environments across thousands of engineers and multiple companies.
• Build monorepo dev tooling at scale and set the standard across the umbrella.
• Provision production-shaped environments in seconds with reliable remote access.
• Invent new approaches and tackle unsolved industry problems.
• Design for AI agents as first-class consumers of the environment.
• Support agents launched from IDE, CLI, or Slack without laptops.
• Align cross-team groups around ambiguous problems and guide decisions.
• Mentor engineers; lead design reviews and architectural guidance.
• Lead hiring interviews and onboarding for senior hires.
