Job summary

Deliveroo seeks a Staff Engineer for Dev Environments within the Foundations group. You will own the end-to-end developer experience across thousands of engineers, defining architecture, tooling, and AI-ready sandboxes that span DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo ecosystems.

You’ll mentor engineers, lead cross-team design reviews, and drive scalable, production-grade environments that accelerate engineering velocity at scale.

Responsibilities

• Define the architecture for thousands of engineers to develop and ship code: local and remote dev containers, remote IDE/VM lifecycle, and full local-to-remote loop.
• Build monorepo dev tooling at scale across Deliveroo/ DoorDash / Wolt umbrella.
• Provision production-shaped environments in seconds with synced state, scalable to thousands of engineers.
• Invent new approaches and design for AI agents as first-class consumers of the environment.
• Support agents launched from IDE/ CLI or Slack with no laptop required to review and ship outcomes.
• Align multiple teams around unstructured problems, mentor engineers, and lead design reviews.
• Help set hiring bar: lead interview loops and onboard senior hires.
