Job summary

Robinhood is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer for the Exchange Platform team in London. You will define the technical vision, shape the architectural roadmap for a high-velocity crypto/finance platform, and lead cross-functional initiatives across global teams.

You will own modernization, scale resilient services, and reduce operational toil while mentoring senior engineers and upholding 24/7 platform reliability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend and distributed systems engineering with staff-level leadership experience.
• Deep expertise in Docker, Kubernetes and AWS cloud services.
• Experience with low-latency, high-concurrency backend architectures.
• Ability to take ambiguous problems from inception to production.
• Strong cross-functional communication across geographies.

Responsibilities

• Architect Strategic Infrastructure: define long-term architectural vision for high-availability, low-latency cloud platforms.
• Lead Modernization at Scale: drive multi-quarter modernization and containerized deployments.
• Direct High-Stakes Integrations: align Bitstamp exchange backend with Robinhood’s global infra.
• Eliminate Operational Toil & Technical Debt: build self-healing systems and automation.
• Exercise Systemic Ownership: own high-impact technical initiatives end-to-end.
• Foster Technical Leadership & Culture: mentor engineers and set engineering standards.
• Uphold Platform Resilience: act as escalation point for incidents and ensure 24/7 platform integrity.
