Job summary

Robinhood in London is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to shape the technical vision for our Exchange Platform. You will drive high-availability cloud infrastructure, guide modernization, and align Bitstamp with Robinhood's global backbone.

You will mentor senior engineers, own critical initiatives end-to-end, and ensure 24/7 platform resilience with low-latency services across multiple regions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in backend and distributed systems with leadership experience.
• Deep cloud and container mastery (Docker, Kubernetes) and AWS experience.
• Strong understanding of low-latency, high-concurrency architectures.

Responsibilities

• Architect strategic infrastructure for high-availability, low-latency cloud platforms across global ecosystem.
• Lead modernization initiatives, moving services to containerized cloud environments and optimize pipelines.
• Direct complex integrations between Bitstamp backend and Robinhood's global infrastructure.
• Eliminate operational toil and technical debt with self-healing systems and automation.
• Own end-to-end high-impact initiatives with sound trade-offs.
• Mentor senior engineers and enforce engineering best practices across the org.
• Serve as escalation point for serious incidents and post-mortems to improve resilience.
