Job summary

Dex is seeking a Staff or Principal Software Engineer to own major platform areas, guiding architecture and production delivery for AI simulation and data workflows. You will remain hands-on while providing technical direction, leading distributed systems design and scalable infrastructure at scale.

You will mentor engineers, advocate best practices, and balance speed with reliability in a fast-changing environment.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience building and operating complex production systems; strong background in architecture and system design.
• Led large, ambiguous engineering initiatives, designing distributed systems, data platforms, or complex technical workflows.
• Proficient in one or more typed languages (TypeScript, Go, Java, Rust) with deep cloud architecture knowledge (AWS or GCP).
• Provide technical direction and mentorship while remaining hands-on, contributing to code and reviews.
• Thrive in fast-changing environments, making pragmatic trade-offs around scalability, reliability, and delivery speed.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction and production delivery for major platform areas, from concept to deployment.
• Design and build scalable distributed systems for AI simulation, data generation, and agent workflow orchestration.
• Lead architectural decisions across backend services and data-intensive infrastructure, ensuring reliability and performance at scale.
• Translate ambiguous technical and business challenges into clear, actionable engineering plans.
• Drive improvements in engineering practices: testing, observability, deployment, and overall system reliability.
